Economic Insights – June 2016

The S&P 500 ended May 2016 with a total return of just a little under 2 percent for the month and just about 2 percent for the year.  This leaves the index just below its all-time nominal high reached in May 2015. 

The lackluster stock market performance we’ve seen over the past two years makes sense when you consider the fact that earnings are what ultimately drive markets over the long term.
