Now let’s focus on the most important breakthroughs in technology.  We’ll begin with a significant milestone in the search for a cure for cancer. A human enzyme has been genetically modified to trick cancer cells into committing suicide.  It has already been proven effective in destroying melanoma cells. Melanoma cells have many defense mechanisms that resist today’s most effective cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy, so the fact that the new treatment worked on melanoma suggests that it will work at least as well in treating a wide range of other types of cancer.
