Global Technology – December 2011

Now let’s focus on this month’s most important advances in technology.  We’ll begin with a promising breakthrough in materials science. Plastic resins used in everything from aircraft to boats to electronic circuits are known for their lightness, strength, and resistance.  However, once cured, these resins can no longer be reshaped. On the other hand, certain inorganic compounds, including glass, can be reshaped, but they tend to be heavy and brittle.  Combining all the desired properties into a single material has been impossible, until now.
