Now let’s focus on this month’s most important breakthroughs in technology.  We’ll begin with a fascinating development in the quest to perfect an “invisibility cloak.” As discussed in previous issues, the promise of invisibility cloaks is based on the concept that light waves are guided by the material so that they leave the invisibility cloak as if they had never been in contact with the object to be disguised.  Consequently, the object is invisible to the observer.  The exotic optical properties of the camouflaging material are calculated using complex mathematical tools.
