Now let’s focus on this month’s most important breakthroughs in technology.  We’ll begin with a new study that focuses on resveratrol, the amazing polyphenol compound we’ve told you about in previous issues. Resveratrol is found in red wine, grapes, and other fruits and is also sold as a nutritional supplement.  A polyphenol is a natural antibiotic substance produced by plants as a defense against microorganisms. As Heather Hausenblas of the University of Florida, James Smoliga of Marywood University, and Joseph Baur of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine report on-line in Molecular Nutrition and Food Research, they reviewed the results of thousands of laboratory studies with enzymes, cultured cells, and laboratory animals.
